NeosThera Technology
Moves complexity from hardware to smartphone, a familiar interface even for older users. Integrates 12 clinically-validated therapy protocols, from pain relief to osteoporosis, with parameters optimized for each specific condition.
NeosThera Mobile App
Acts as the therapy control center: secure Bluetooth connection, guides the therapeutic process, and provides pre/post assessment system with a visual VAS scale. Creates a personal database of treatment responses to optimize the care pathway.
Context and Challenge
With Neos Sistemi’s hardware already engineered and certified, the central challenge was to create a software experience that made magnetotherapy accessible and measurable. The usage context analysis revealed three critical dimensions that defined the project’s success.
01 Simplicity Challenge
The invisible interface
The main issue was the high dropout rate (>70%) of traditional devices with complex interfaces for elderly users. The radical solution to remove the hardware interface leverages existing smartphone skills. Onboarding becomes a visual carousel, and selection is handled through illustrated cards instead of numeric menus on monochromatic LCDs.
02 Clinical Challenge
Measuring the invisible
Magnetotherapy does not produce perceivable sensations, generating mistrust ("I don’t feel anything, is it on?") and making it impossible to assess compliance. We implemented structured self-evaluation using a 1-5 VAS scale and emojis before/after each session. The system creates therapeutic response graphs, motivating the patient and providing data to personalize protocols.
03 Technical Challenge
Reliability as a foundation
The "smart autonomy" architecture ensures treatment continues independently even without connection after starting. The app maintains a heartbeat every 5 seconds for non-critical monitoring. Encrypted database with deferred sync ensures data persistence, and intelligent battery management prevents interruptions.
