This device represents an innovation in post-surgical chest drainage monitoring: an intelligent device that transforms the management of pleural drains through pressure sensors, digital flowmeters, and Bluetooth connectivity for real-time data on fluid loss, air leaks, and intrapleural pressure.
SilverLine Technology
Continuously monitors with sampling every 5 seconds, IP22D certification, and an encrypted BLE 5.1 protocol. The precision of its measurements enables early identification of complications such as occlusions or persistent air leaks.
SilverLine Mobile App
The mobile app turns the smartphone into a monitoring hub: real-time visualization, trend analysis, and critical alerts. It supports multi-device management for surgical departments and CSV export for direct integration with the electronic medical record, eliminating manual transcription.
Context & Challenge
With Drentech hardware already certified and market-ready, the main challenge lay in creating a software ecosystem that could transform complex technical data into actionable clinical information. Problem analysis revealed three interconnected critical dimensions.
01 Clinical Challenge
From manual monitoring to secure digitization
The key issue was transitioning from manual measurements every 4–6 hours to continuous digital workflows while preserving operational simplicity. We implemented multi-level alerts with customizable thresholds and hysteresis to prevent false alarms.
02 Usability Challenge
Interface for high-pressure settings
We designed a dashboard capable of managing up to 10 patients. Bluetooth pairing with pre-printed PINs and automatic association storage was implemented.
03 Technical Challenge
Reliability in harsh environments
Bluetooth stack with automatic retries and offline buffering for the electromagnetically complex environments of surgical rooms. SQLite database with SQLCipher encryption for privacy and forensic tracking. Selective CSV exports compatible with major electronic medical record systems."
